Ranger Termite and Pest Control is a small Austin pest control operation on McNeil Drive that has earned a 4.8-star Google rating -- though that number rests on just 13 reviews, which is thin enough that one or two experiences can swing the average. The profile is claimed, has a website and phone number, and shows recent review activity, but it falls short of full CertifiedLocal certification on several upkeep measures: no service options listed, weekday-only hours that miss the 50-hour threshold, and no engagement with reviews, including a recent negative one. Where customers are happy, they're happy for concrete reasons. One reviewer who dealt with a roach infestation during Covid says the company came out roughly twenty times in the first four months at no extra charge beyond the quarterly plan, and stayed with them for years afterward. Another specifically praises the absence of upselling and scare tactics, and notes the company actually picks up the phone and answers emails -- rarer than it should be in this trade. A long-term customer uses them for both home and business. The recurring theme is a low-pressure, responsive outfit that sticks with a problem until it's resolved. The one critical review deserves attention precisely because it's recent and unanswered. A customer with an acrobat ant infestation reports that the warranty re-treatment consisted of applying the exact same products that failed the first time, after which the ants got worse, and that the company's only proposed fix was paying for ongoing routine treatments. Whether or not that's a fair account, Ranger hasn't responded to it publicly in two months -- and that silence is itself a data point, since the company replies to essentially none of its reviews. The profile has other gaps too: no listed services, no weekend availability, which matters if your infestation doesn't keep business hours. For routine pest control on a quarterly plan -- roaches, general treatment, ongoing prevention -- the track record here looks genuinely good, especially if you value a company that won't pressure you into add-ons. Be more cautious if you're facing a stubborn, species-specific problem like ants: the one detailed account of a difficult case suggests the warranty may mean repeating the same treatment rather than escalating to a different approach. Ask up front what happens if the first treatment doesn't work, and get the answer in writing. With only 13 reviews on record, your own first visit will tell you as much as this profile can.

„We have a terrible acrobat ant infestation inside and outside our home. Though I understand that insects may take multiple rounds of treatment to remove from a property, Ranger used the exact same products upon coming back two weeks after initial treatment within their warranty. If anything the ants are even worse on the property and now are returning indoors. There is no sense in offering a warranty that involves repeating the same ineffective steps. After asking them about this, their only recommendation is to give them more money for routine treatments. Repeat usage of ineffective products/application techniques does nothing but spend customer money, and it is rather condescending to be told this is their only solution. I would not recommend them for ant remediation after this experience."

Got on a quarterly schedule with them and then they would come out in between at no extra charge. The first 4 months I bet they came out to our house 20 times! We got the bugs under control within that time and continued to use them for several years until we moved in 2024."
